Hello Michigan IV Members,
I would like to request all IV members living in Michigan to please respond to this thread. We would like to make the MI chapter much more active in our mission to solve many of the problems we face as legal immigrants. I think as a cohesive group, we'll be able to make a greater impact. So pls join me, Samrat, Jagan, Shailendra, Puneet, Amit, and many other active members in MI to make it happen. Hi,
I have entered in US with a H1B of company A. I got it transferred to company B in Nov 2008 and got it approved .. i have I797 and I94 valid till Dec 2010.
In May 2009 I have initiated H1b transfer with company C and today I came to know that it is denied. I dont know the reasons yet.
Can any one suggest what are my available options.
Can I initiate transfer with another company with the 1797 of the companyB

Lots of activity to report. Congressional Hispanic Caucus leaders met this week with President Obama who said he wants a vote during the Lame Duck and would work the phones to round up votes. Harry Reid tweeted today that he'll offer the DREAM Act as a standalone bill which will hopefully help bring along a few of the "procedural" no voters from last September who indicated they like the DREAM Act but didn't believe in tacking it on to a budget bill. The Chief of Staff of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service’s (USCIS) Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS) office explained three different types of site visits being conducted by USCIS.
Risk Assessment Program Fraud Study: program is part of a study to help design profiles of potential fraud. Family-based petitions or employment-based petitions once approved are randomly selected.
Targeted Site Visits: this visit is to ask questions when fraud is suspected. Advance notice of visit is given.
Administrative Site Visits: for religious worker and H-1B programs. Specific questions generally regarding the beneficiary’s job duties as stated in the petition and whether the beneficiary is receiving the wage as stated on the petition.

Current work status : H1B
Applied for I-485 , July'07 filer, priority date: jun EB3 category
My husband details:
Current work status : H1B
Applied for I-485 , July'07 filer, priority date: Feb EB3 category
We both have separate EADs and H1B visas and are independent of each other currently.
Because my priority date is 2006 and my husband's is in 2005, there is more possibility that he may get GC before my PD becomes current.
When my husband's priority date becomes current, he wants to file it for me again so i would get GC along with him.
I am now considering to look out for jobs and use my EAD card with new employer.
Can I make my EAD active ? Will it cause any problems when my husband's priority date becomes current and when we file my application along with his ?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

I would like to invite my brother to US for a 2 month road trip I am planning in April.
I finished my employment in Jan and currently on 6 months B2 visa. I got my NZ residency approved and I will be leaving US in June at the end of road trip. I have been living in US for past 10 years (3 years on F1 and 6.5 years on H1B). I am 32 unmarried/male/Indian from Hyderabad.
My brother is 33 and is married with a 3 year old daughter. He manages my dads businesses (rental properties, finance, farm etc.). I am pretty sure he has some properties on his name.
I would like to know what are his chances of getting visa approved.
What do I need to provide him as support and what does he need to provide as support documentation ?? What does US consulate look for support typically and to what extent ?
I would really appreciate if anyone can give some advice especially someone who were successfully able to get a US visitor visa to their brother.

I was wondering if there is a way to efile for renewal of EAD & AP or do we really need a lawyer. It is turning out to be too expensive to file for a renewal through my comany lawyer. If it is possible, can someone who has already self filed advise of the procedure?

Hi,
I am currently on H1b and had recently filed papers for transfer from employer A to employer B. I have got the email from USCIS that my case has been approved and that documents will be delivered soon.
My H1b transfer has been accepted for 01/01/2010. My date of joining the new job is 01/04/2010. My original H1b with company A is still valid till Oct 2009.
Since I have to give my old employer a two weeks notice to resign. If I give my notice around 12/21/2009 (notice period of leaving by 01/04/2010) and my employer relieves (terminates) me immediately will I be out of status at any time?
Also, My green card process is going to start soon. Is it going to affect me as I am worried that I might be out of visa status from 12/21/2009 to 01/01/2010.
Please suggest. I need to make a decision in few day.
Would greatly appreciate a response.

Hi, I am a U.S. Citizen, and my husband is not. I would like to apply for unemployment benefits, but I am worried that it may affect his immigration process. We will soon apply for his green card with the help of a cosponsor. I wanted to make sure that he would not be affected at all by me claiming unemployment benefits. I figure that it wouldn't affect him because of the fact that we will be using a cosponsor, but I didn't want to risk it.

People, I see my RD, ND , A#, name on my I485 receipt. But I don't see my priority date PD mentioned on it. I am worried that this might delay my case processing. Anyone in the same boat as me
