PersonA = PD of May 30th, 2003 and RD of June 15th, 2007.
Assume that an additional 150,000 I-485 applications were filed petween PersonA and PersonB
PersonB = PD of May 15, 2002 and RD of July 15th 2007.
USCIS starts pre-adjudicating cases based on Receipt date. Assume that by October 1, 2007, they have pre-adjudicated PersonA plus 9,000 of the 150,000 applications and haven't reached PersonB's application yet (they go by RD).
Assuming that the visa cutoff date in Oct, 2007 bulletin is June, 2003 making both PersonA and personB current:
PersonA (PD of 2003) will get a visa number and get the case approved while PersonB (PD of 2002) with an older priority date will have to wait a while because his case hasn't been touched by USCIS yet due to the additional 150,000 filings in between that have to be pre-adjudicated first based on RD even if they have 2004/2005/2006/2007 priority dates!!

I have been a donor since 2006 and donated about $1000+ through 3 or 5 one time payments and monthly subscription of $20.
But I discontinued my monthly subscription seeing absence of IV core for long time in 2008. But more than that I was completely pissed off with free riders with one time questions and then disappearing, nanny questions, people sharing jokes on this forum, people commenting on the internal matters of their own country and so on. I felt the forum was being used for all other matters except the one issue it was formed to address: "RETROGRESSION in EB IMMIGRATION".
I am fully supportive of paid membership and welcome this step. I thank IV admin for the same.
Now my questions are
What is the vision / mission/ purpose behind the "donor forum"?
whether members will still be able to post questions for free and get answers? And of course vanish after that.

IV is you me and everybody else. We saw since morning how people are trying to scuttle the idea by giving various and weird reasonings. What is important is writing them. And telling them the gravity and urgency of the situations. words like bonded should be bolded as the truth is 'Yes' in this free American Society we have lived a 'bonded' life...
mirage, I am not trying to turn down this effort. In Fact, I have sent at least 50 letters as part of IV campaigns and I have written so many on my own. All I was saying that we need a professional letter that will have better impact. Once we have the letter ready, I will be the first one to send it out.

He finally succeeded in getting his GC, which still gives me reason to believe that it's possible to be independent after EAD (if you can navigate the loopholes):

PD - Nov 2001, regular, EB2 - No 45 day letter yet - How about that ?
PD Sept 2001, RIR EB2 (completed MD SWA Nov 2003 before going BEC), response confirmation filed Jan 2005, no further word... Just got my 10th-year H-1B extension approved.
How's this for a sad, twisted case of one-upmanship!
Almost glad for the company, but at the same time really sorry for it.
I mentioned this in another thread, but I heard from my law firm that the Philly BEC was prioritizing resource allocation to entering cases into their system, rather than in reviewing (and approving) the cases...

Relax Buddy , now that the bus has come they will keep coming .Most of the people will go in this bus. The dates will retrogress for some time and will be current maybe next year . If not this bus then the next bus . No use raising your blood pressure for this . Attorneys and the media have a habit of scaring people unnecessarily . In Jan 2010 DOL will publish their data and that will make thing very clear. I think DOS is assuming around 10 -15 k Spill over visas that can be available to Eb2 India ( based on previous years ) and that is what it take them into Oct - Dec 2005 range. They don't factor in CIS processing time. But I think from pool of 40-50k pre adjudicated apps CIS can easily consume 10k visas. But if there are less labors and more spill over visas ( like 30 -40 k) then be ready for mini version of july fiasco.

It is true that a lot of the members signed up just so that they can follow the happenings, and maybe post an immediate question that they might have. We may have a huge membership base, but without any action from such a base can make any plan from the core a failure. What we need to do is to energize the baselevel members. The senate is comprised of senators from our respective states, and the house has reps from each state. We have individual state chapeters for IV. I think the Core will need to plan out a strategy to help the state chapters approach their senators and house reps, while the core concentrates on contacting the DoJ committees. Meeting a few senators here and there will not help. We need to contact ALL the senators and apprise them of the situations. Rather than have a different message sent to each senator, the core will need to define an agenda, and the communication needed. The state chapters will need to take that and follow up with their respective senators and reps, without diluting any of the messages. Having the core meet all the senators is not proper, we need to pitch in too. Unless we work as a team, nothing that the core has planned will work.
I was/am a member in immigration.com where all the talk of starting this forum happened. I have interacted with the core on many occassions before, and I was also one of the first to join this community. But work and family pressures prompted me to stay away, and in the meantime, my handle and password were forgotten. I had to resign up, and what I find today is that there is no understanding between the members. Be thankful that this forum was set up, and contribute positively in any way you can. Without your support, the core cant do it all. Lets stop worring about donations and membership fees. We are all intelligent, and highly paid. We have the brains to talk to senators and house reps. Lets move forward to get at least piecemeal legislations passed. Lets not wait for CIR. CIR is not going to happen, so dont believe in it.
